The Brody Neighborhood (Butterfield, Rather, Bryan, Armstrong, Bailey, Emmons)

Welcome to Brody, the Complex that offers a variety of dining experiences under one roof. Stop by and check out our variety of dining choices. East Side Dining features Contemporary favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a Specialty Salad Bar prepared fresh daily. An array of beverages and bakery-fresh desserts from the MSU Bakers are also available. Complete your meal with hand-dipped ice cream from the MSU Dairy Store. Lafayette Square offers pastas prepared to order with a variety of meats, vegetables, oils and spices. Also, enjoy a select salad bar, fresh baked breads and desserts, including Nestle Tollhouse Cookies Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Totally Takeout Express location lets you grab a lunch-to-go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday when you are in a hurry. Visit The Nook for made-to-order grinders, burgers and fries from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. For th Late Night Dining from 8 p.m. til’ midnight featuring pizza, a specialty grinder and breakfast. Satisfy those late night cravings without leaving the complex!

The East Neighborhood (Akers, Hubbard, Holmes, McDonel, Owen)

At Akers Café there is something for everyone. Open Oven offers one of the best pizza and toasted grinder operations in the area. Avenue XIIII offers signature bistro specialty entrees prepared to order and freshly prepared soups. It also features vegetarian and vegan options. The Expressway offers quick service restaurant items for those individuals that need great tasting food fast. In the Transit, a variety of entrees and accompaniments are offered along with the featured Vegarian station providing both vegetarian and vegan options. Terra Salsa Verde offers an ever-changing menu of Central and South American cuisines, including quesadillas, tortas, tacos and nachos along with many specialty items. Akers Salad Bar provides a unique theme daily with numerous items, including a great number of protein enhancers, to create your own salad. Fetishes will give you the chance to splurge every lunch and dinner on smoothies, icees, floats, shakes and malts to pleasure your sweet cravings. Akers Café satisfies that afternoon craving with the Open Oven and numerous offerings during lunch and dinner in a very exciting dining room setting.

At The Hubbard Café “options” is the key word. The Core serves a variety of entrees and accompaniments for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Epicenter offers a selection of “quakes” (sandwiches) on different breads prepared three different ways. The perfect accompaniments to your quake can be found at The Art of Soup where freshly prepared soups are offered with a variety of toppings and fresh baked rolls. The Reactor Station includes omelets, eggs (cooked-to-order) and smoothies for breakfast, specialties for lunch and dinner. The BA Salad Bar, which is themed daily, offers an expansive variety of items to create your own salad. Euphoria creates floats, shakes and malts to order during dinner for that final touch to your dining experience. There are numerous other features to see at The Hubbard Café including one of the largest breakfast offerings in the area, fresh baked cookies during lunch and dinner and a truly unique dining room atmosphere.

Holmes Dining Services features a daily variety of "Holmes Style" favorites. Looking for something special? Fresh, prepared-to-order entrees can be found at our display cooking station Essential Elements and hot sandwiches and grinders are available nightly at GTO's. Don't forget to save room for dessert! Enjoy a sweet treat fresh from the MSU Bakers. New this year is Late Night Dining at Holmes Cafe. Open til' midnight, you can satisfy those late night cravings without leaving the hall!

McDonel Dining Services features an intimate dining experience overlooking the Sanford Natural Area. The menu features a variety of your favorite entrees as well as several create-to-order stations. New this year is The Other Side, which features your favorite grill items made-to-order. In a hurry, stop by the McDonel Totally Takeout Express for on-the-go fare.

Holmes, Hubbard and McDonel each have a Sparty's store for snacks and they take Spartan Cash for your added convenience.

The River Trail Neighborhood of Owen Graduate Hall and Van Hoosen Apartments lies just north of the Red Cedar River at Shaw Lane and Grand River. This area is conveniently located near the Business College Complex, the MSU College of Law, the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the College of Human Medicine, the College of Veterinary Medicine and right across from the Wharton Center for Performing Arts.

Owen Graduate Center meals are served a la carte with a convenience store located right inside the dining facility and are available to all students on a cash or Spartan Cash basis.  Visit the Owen Grill, open until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday for a tasty Spartan Burger and fries and other delicious fare.

Red Cedar Neighborhood (Shaw, Snyder/Phillips)

Shaw has made-to-order omelets and waffles at the Breakfast Station, daily themed salad bar, Deli Station and Classic and Contemporary favorites. Also featured are the Pasta Station and the Fast Track for quick service entrees. Dessert of the Day offers a delicious special dessert daily. Totally Takeout, gives you the option of dining in or taking your meal to the banks of the Red Cedar.

The Gallery, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. all summer long, offers an innovative blending of a residential all-you-care-to-eat and a la carte service. It is a destination where people come to seek refreshment, meet friends, stop to study, read a book or a newspaper, or drop by for a freshly-prepared meal in a comfortable, lively atmosphere. Check out the following eateries at The Gallery: The Berg is designed to visually create a cold, fresh oasis of produce, made-to-order entrée salads, and a wide variety of other accompaniments. The Berg is complemented by an adjacent soup and bakery area; New Traditions features prepared contemporary entrées, carved meats, daily vegetarian selections and sides for a complete meal, with exhibition cooking for that added flair; Brimstone Grille displays a freshly prepared selection of burgers, chicken sandwiches, specialty sandwiches and vegetarian options prepared to order; Latitudes presents authentic ethnic menu items with emphasis on global trends such as Asian, Thai, Middle Eastern, Cuban and Southwestern. Prepared as you wait, your entrée will sizzle to perfection using flexible cooking systems and woks; Ciao! features individual pizzas made to order; Bliss features tempting pastries, pies and cakes, as well as an array of specialty desserts finished in view of the customer. Fresh-baked cookies will tantalize you into leaving room for dessert. Also available is Late Night Dining - Open til' 10 p.m., so you can satisfy those late night cravings without leaving the hall!

Sparty's Coffeehouse, located adjacent to The Gallery, has baked goods, salads, prepared sandwiches and other grab-and-go items for you to enjoy in an adjacent seating area complete with couches, work stations and casual seating. They accept Spartan Cash for your added convenience.

The South Neighborhood (Case, Holden, Wilson, Wonders)

Choices and options right where you live! Venture out with a friend and check out the variety that the South Complex Dining Services have to offer. No matter which direction you turn, you can find something to satisfy your craving.

Holden Café is set up with an array of stations that will please any palate. The Great Plate features all of our classics, The Ultimate Grill is home of the fast track, The Cooking Place features daily made-to-order specialties and The Green Cuisine is our gourmet salad station.

Case Café is home to classic and contemporary favorites. Visit our Pasta Toss station Scossa for a unique pasta entrée offered daily at lunch and dinner.

On the go? Head to Wilson and take advantage of the Totally Takeout Express where "bagging it" takes on a whole new meaning.

Sparty's Coffeehouse, located in South Case Hall, offers specialty coffees, smoothies, pastries and desserts where you can use Spartan Cash or the regular old green kind. You can also pop into the Sparty’s stores in Holden, Wilson and Wonders for munchies and drinks when you need a study break.

West Circle Zone (Campbell, Landon, Mayo, Yakeley/Gilchrist, MSU Union)

Landon takes dining to a new level with an intimate atmosphere and custom-made salads featuring organic items, as well. The famous Gilbert Manuell, a 2007 “Distinguished Faculty Staff” award winner, creates wraps, sandwiches, and paninis prepared to order and low-fat entree options at Gilbert’s Station. Travel with us to Don’s Station and savor the ethnic cuisine from Corners of the World. New this year is Late Night Dining in Landon Cafe. Open til' midnight, you can satisfy those late night cravings without leaving the complex!

Landon Dining Services, in partnership with the MSU Student Organic Farm, offers organically grown mixed greens grown right here on campus. This new program, called Spartan Harvest, is the first of its kind at Michigan State University. Spartan Harvest is green in so many ways: All of the produce grown at the Student Organic Farm is 100% Certified Organic, produced using sustainable agriculture techniques without polluting the environment or depleting the earth’s natural resources. From planting to harvesting, all of the produce grown at the Student Organic Farm is grown by your fellow Spartans. Using unheated, solar-powered greenhouses, the Student Organic Farm is able to farm year-round, ensuring that you get the absolute freshest produce available! Yakeley offers a wide array of choices while being open 7 days a week for Breakfast. Juice up your day with freshly prepared juices and smoothies made at every meal. With omelets cooked to your specification, breakfast will never be the same. Perk up your morning with freshly brewed cappuccinos, espresso, and lattes (this is not your average “joe” or gas station cappuccino). If you're looking for a way to spice up your lunch, check out Tim’s Toss and Fry in Yakeley with a new theme each meal. On weekends for Lunch and Dinner, join us in Landon for an unforgettable dining experience.

Take advantage of Spartan Cash convenience at the MSU Union store and visit the food court, One Union Square, for pizza, subs, coffee and snacks. 

Grab & Go!

There may be times when class schedules are so tight that students cannot make it into a dining hall. For these situations we have Grab & Go! options available once per day, available to all students with undergraduate hall dining plans.

• Totally Takeout Express – Located in Brody, Landon, McDonel and Wilson allows students to grab a lunch on the go consisting of a sub or entrée salad, chips, fruit, cookie and beverage. Open weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Totally Takeout – Located in Shaw Hall in the heart of campus, offers a wider variety of grab and go selections with extended hours weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
